Asperger’s and Giftedness

A gifted child and a child with Asperger’s Syndrome may share similar traits. For example, both children may experience social difficulties, be verbose (usually about a favorite subject), and experience heightened sensitivity.  Consequently, gifted students are sometimes misdiagnosed with Asperger’s. To complicate matters, children may be identified as gifted and diagnosed with Asperger’s. Our professionals will help you to understand the similarities and differences between giftedness and Asperger’s.
