Ruth Lyons, PhD

Ruth Lyons, PhD, is the former Director of the Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli Gifted and Talented Academy in Hartford, CT. During her time in education she witnessed the profound power and impact gifted pedagogy has, which encouraged her to earn a PhD in the field. Ruth received her Ph.D in the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Connecticut, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine, a Master's of Science in Education from Fordham University, and a Bachelor's of Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has been awarded the 2010 NAGC A. Harry Passow Classroom Teacher Scholarship and the Connecticut Association of the Gifted 2011 Administrator of the Year. Her current research interests include high potential low income populations, family involvement, specialized programming and urban school design.
